|| You're Not Good Enough Book Tag ||

I'm stealing a tag today from the blog archives of my dear friend Ellie over @ On The Other Side of Reality, and I'd feel bad, if this wasn't probably the hundredth time that I've used a tag I wasn't nominated for. The You're Not Good Enough book tag consists of:

  • Writing thirty character names on slips of paper
  • Putting them in a hat
  • Randomly drawing them
  • And then using a pair to answer the questions!

This tag seems like so much fun, and a nice change from other ones I've done in the past. I chose a lot of minor/lesser-known characters for this post, and it made for some interesting pairings!

Now, on to the questions!

(note: i apologize in advance for the horrendous photos + the various weird positions my hands appear in. taking photos of paper slips is not as easy as it sounds.)

THE YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH BOOK TAG

Anna (Dangerous Girls- Abigail Haas) VS. Katy Schwartz (Lux Series- Jennifer L. Armentrout)

1. You only have one more spot on your spelling bee team. Who gets it?
Definitely Katy. With all the books she reads, and the blogging she does, I think she'd have an awesome knack when it comes to spelling out words. Anna would probably be doable, but I wouldn't really want her and her homicidal tendencies on my team. :/

Ronan Lynch (The Raven Cycle- Maggie Stiefvater) VS. Kell (A Darker Shade of Magic- V.E. Schwab)

2. Both characters want to kill you. Whom would you kill first to have a better chance of survival?
My original answer to this was going to be Ronan, because he's badass and would easily pummel me... but then Kell has magic so I'm not too sure anymore. I guess I'd take out Kell first, and take my luck with Ronan. (real talk though, can you imagine Ronan so made at you that he wants to kill you?? i definitely would not want to be on the receiving end of that boy's fists)

Holland (A Darker Shade of Magic- V.E. Schwab) VS. Josh Templeman (The Hating Game- Sally Thorne)

3. You're on the bachelor/bachelorette and down to two characters. Who gets the last rose?
I PROMISE THESE WERE ALL RANDOM AND I DIDN'T PURPOSEFULLY PICK JOSH FOR THIS ROUND. That said-- of course I'd pick Josh. Nobody can beat my boy.

Mia (Nevernight- Jay Kristoff) VS. Nik Malikov (Gemina- Jay Kristoff + Amie Kaufman)

4. You've been chosen for the hunger games. Who's most likely to volunteer in your place?
Mia would probably just laugh at me being chosen. And although Nik acts tough, he's got such a soft heart, and I can totally see him putting himself forward so that someone he likes doesn't have to go through anything dangerous.

Locke Lamora (The Gentleman Bastards Series- Scott Lynch) VS. Lazlo (Strange the Dreamer- Laini Taylor)

5. You're stranded on an island and must engage in cannibalism to survive. Whom do you eat?
I hate how this round turned out because I love both Locke and Lazlo so very much. I seriously can't imagine ever hurting the sweetheart that is Lazlo, though, so I guess I'd have to suck it up and eat Locke.

Renee Walker (The Foxhole Court- Nora Sakavic) VS. Evelyn Hugo (The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo- Taylor Jenkins Reid)

6. You're the next Marvel superhero (with your own TV show, of course). Who's your sidekick?
Definitely Renee. She's got that sweet vibe about her that would make her a really caring sidekick, but she could also totally kick some major ass. Plus, I feel like she would give great advice. Evelyn would probably just scoff and down a glass of wine instead of helping anybody.

Victor Vale (Vicious- V.E. Schwab) VS. Aled (Radio Silence- Alice Oseman)

7. You're a manager of an avocado company. Whom would you fire for poor communication skills?
As much as I feel like Victor has his downfalls when it comes to communication skills, Aled hardly ever says what's on his mind (or speaks at all); he'd be the absolute worst at communication. I love him, but he'd have to go.

Cassandra Leung (The Abyss Surrounds Us- Emily Skrutskie) VS. Jean Tannen (The Gentleman Bastards Series- Scott Lynch)

8. You've just finished a book in which your favorite character dies. Which of these two characters is most likely to comfort you?
Jean, all the way. Cassandra is pretty closed off and isolated when it comes to feelings, whereas Jean is just one big fluffy teddy bear (who kills people but shhh, we don't talk about that).

Bramble (Entwined- Heather Dixon) VS. Manon Blackbeak (Throne of Glass Series- Sarah J Maas)

9. Ugh, it's high school. Who would most likely be part of the popular clique?
I?? Honestly can't imagine either of these girls being in the popular clique?? Manon would scare everyone away, and Bramble would just say something rude and start a fight.

Lucy Hutton (The Hating Game- Sally Thorne) VS. Cassie (The 5th Wave- Rick Yancey)

10. The day has arrived; you're finally a year older! Who would have the nerve to forget your birthday?
Cassie. Lucy would never forget anybody's birthday. She probably has a calendar purely for recording coworker's birthdays. Cassie is lowkey busy saving the world, so I don't think she really has time for trivial things like birthdays.

Allison Reynolds (The Foxhole Court- Nora Sakavic) VS. Dustfinger (Inkheart- Cornelia Funke)

11. You've just found an upcoming YouTube star! Whom is it more likely to be?
I feel like Dustfinger would stay as far away from cameras and the internet as he could get. I can't imagine him having any kind of social media. Allison would probably be a fantastic YouTube star, though. She'd make witty videos about fashion and have lifestyle vlogs, with the occasional exy-themed video here and there.

Starr (The Hate U Give- Angie Thomas) VS. Cole St. Clair (The Shiver Trilogy- Maggie Stiefvater)

12. Sleepover time! Unfortunately you can only invite one person. Who would it be?
Ahh, I'd love to have a sleepover with Starr! A Harry Potter marathon would be a must.

Jem (The Infernal Devices Trilogy- Cassandra Clare) VS. Neil Josten (The Foxhole Court- Nora Sakavic)

13. Bam, you're pregnant. Who's the father/mother?
Pregnancy is so not a thing I'll ever want in life, so I'll pretend the question is "bam, you've adopted a child! Who's the father/mother?"
Jem would be the best dad. He'd be so sweet and caring, and I can totally see him being a push-over parent and spoiling the kid. <3

Nashville (The Animal Under the Fur- E.J. Mellow) VS. Rishi (When Dimple Met Rishi- Sandhya Menon)

14. You've just written out a super important text. Who would see it and not reply?
Nashville. Rishi would do his best to reply, but Nashville would definitely blow off a text for something she finds more pressing.

Cress (The Lunar Chronicles- Marissa Meyer) VS. Eli (Vicious- V.E. Schwab)

15. You've just woken up, and it's time for breakfast. Your mom's been replaced by... whom?
I tried to imagine Eli ever being in a parental role and ugh *shudders*. What a nightmare. Cress on the other hand would be such a sweetheart, and I feel like she would make an amazing gourmet breakfast.

And there we go! That was the You're Not Good Enough book tag! I seriously had so much fun with this one-- it was a super nice change from answering the usual bookish questions. ^-^

LET'S CHAT! Did you agree with my answers? Or did you think there was a character who would behave differently in a certain situation? Who are your top three favorite characters?? TELL ME ALL THE THINGS BELOW.
