A mish-mash of thoughts

Shout-out to the salvation army bell-ringer at Walmart who stopped me to read my hoodie, and then surprised me by actually knowing who My Chemical Romance are.

Hello. I realized that I haven't really been posting of late (I blame it on the crappy weather and the fact that school is literally consuming me whole. There's only about 5% sunshine left in my brain) and I kind of wanted to throw a bunch of things together and just talk/give some life updates. Feel free to chat with me in the comments/ask me random questions/let me know how your past few weeks have been going. :)

+ Okay so basically over the past two weeks I've become completely obsessed with A Day To Remember-- to the point where within 2 days of hearing only a few of their songs, I went out and bought their Homesick album on vinyl. The obsession is real, and it's terrible, but at the same time I'm really happy I found them because their music is one of the few things pushing me to get through all my schoolwork. And it's just plain amazing. Not to mention Jeremy Mckinnon is adorable and reminds me so much of Mike Shinoda.

+ Speaking of vinyl, it's safe to say that I have an obsession with that as well. I've somehow acquired like 5 or 6 within two months? I'm so ashamed, but at least this year I did well at remembering to save some money up to buy Christmas presents.

+ And rolling right along with that-- IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS. How is it so close??? It was literally just the first of November, and now I'm already halfway through my last week of school before the two week holiday break. I'm so excited for it. ^.^ What are you guys doing for Christmas/the holiday you celebrate? On a scale of the Grinch to Buddy the Elf, how excited are you for said holiday?

+ Warped Tour announced dates for touring next summer (if you don't know what Warped Tour is, I obviously have not done well enough at sucking you into bandoms. Click HERE if you wanna know more) and tHEY'RE COMING TO MY STATE. I was a wreck for a half hour and it's a miracle my mom didn't off me. I don't think I shut up for more than 30 seconds before I was rambling with excitement again. I'll drag myself to the venue if I have to next summer.

+ Troye Sivan performed on Jimmy Fallon. And he was adorable, and precious, and his noodle hair is just amazing. I'm so proud of him. <3

+ GEE FINALLY GOT A CAT. And it shares a name with one of my family members. What a funny little world.

+ I had my first final for the year. It was for my Criminal class and I actually did surprisingly well. I'm still freaked out over all of my core class finals coming up after Christmas break, but ah well.

And I suppose that's it really. I mean, I could go into long lengths about how school needs to calm down but I'll refrain. (no but if I have to write one more paper I'm chucking my laptop out of my window and seriously getting on a plane to Guatemala)

I hope you've all been doing well, and that you're excited for the holidays! ^-^

Have a lovely morning/day/evening/night, and remember to smile, because you're fricking beautiful.

Stay street, stay alive. |-/

xx Adaline

  1. Vinyl is cool. I don't know what I would do with it, though, though, because my room is SO cluttered I literally would have nowhere to put it. In my dream house, I could have a giant wall to display it, though.
XMAS IS NEXT THURSDAY ADI I CAN'T HANDLE. Well, next Friday for you souls who have to wait an extra day xD my family celebrates on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day. bc we're weird.
We bake a traditional Italian xmas dinner on the eve, which includes fried rice patties (they rarely make it to the table), fried cauliflower (we're a very health-conscious family, in case you couldn't tell), and Baccala, which is basically dried and salted cod with tomato sauce (except we replace the cod with fresh halibut.) It's actually really good, although sadly I won't be eating it this year :/ (bc vegetarian). I always love this time of year, because it's when everyone's ancestral cooking traditions come out, which I think is really lovely and interesting. (I have absolutely no idea what "normal, American" families have for dinner though, bc I've been raised on baccala my whole life. Is it ham?? Turkey?? What do you have?)
I KNOW ALL THOSE GIFS OF TROYE (i almost typed dwarf instead of troye. i think that says a lot about the inner workings of my brain xD) MAKE ME SO HAPPY OUR CINNAMON ROLL IS FINALLY ACHIEVING HIS DREAM AND I JUST.
GEE AND THE CAT OH MY GOD SOMEONE HOLD ME THIS IS YES JUST AWWW AWWWWWWWW.
I feel like super bad for all you people who have to have finals after break, what kinds of schools make you do that, like is it super stressful over break bc you're worrying about finals?? At my school we take all of our finals before break, so we have a totally stress and worry-free break. I actually had English, German, and Religion today (English was tricky bc my teacher is the worst grader and slaps obscure and random stuff on our tests we've barely seen before and expects us to give word-for-word right answers, otherwise he takes a ton of points off. He thinks touching on it a couple months ago should be enough for us to remember it, but it's not. The trouble is, he's such a sweet little old man and he doesn't know he's doing anything wrong, and his wife is the principal at my old k-8 school, so I kinda know/really like the family so I'd feel so bad telling him he has to get his shit in order.) German and Religion were easy, though. Tomorrow I have Ceramics (ugh. the class sucks unless you have innate artistic ability, which I don't) and Digital Animation (which will be fine if I can just remember how to morph shapes - but I think I can, as I did it Monday and even taught the guy sitting next to me how to do it.) And then Friday is Biology, which should be fairly easy. (I'm exempting Geometry, bc at my school if your gpa/attendance meets a certain standard, you can exempt one final (three if you're a senior). Do other schools do this?)
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR CORE FINALS BABE.
Actually, if you wanted to go to Guatemala I could just sneak you in the plane with me when I go next summer.....xD
NO BUT SERIOUSLY ADI I'M ULTRA EXCITED SO.
MY SCHOOL HAS THIS SERVICE TRIP WHERE YOU GO TO GUATEMALA FOR A WEEK DURING THE SUMMER TO BUILD HOUSES AND I APPLIED AND I GOT ACCEPTED TO GO AND I JUST.
    I'M SO EXCITED I CAN'T.
but yes, if you still want to go to guatemala in june i'd be happy to stow you away on my plane. xD

    1. Vinyl is very cool. I've got a record player that sits on the floor and a stack of vinyl leaning against the wall. I'm sure one day I'll trip over it and it'll be death by vinyl for moi.
NAH MAN I GET IT I CELEBRATE ON CHRISTMAS EVE TOO. well technically my family celebrates on Christmas eve, and then we go over to my grandma's on Christmas morning to open presents with her. basically we just spread things out and it's great.
that meal sounds delicious I think I'm drooling wow. The Baccala sounds especially good. I couldn't tell you what normal Americans do because we don't actually eat Christmas dinner in my family? We're weird and just have a big breakfast and then eat sandwiches or boring stuff for dinner. I think most people eat turkey, though??? Maybe ham. I really don't know sOMEONE LOOK THIS UP.
YAAASSS TROYE. (I call him smol child all the time so dwarf probs wouldn't be too far off from the way my own brain works) I'M SO HAPPY FOR HIM LIKE HE'S DONE SO MUCH AND HE'S SO HAPPY AND DOING WHAT HE WANTS TO AND I JUST GAH.
THE CAT IS SO CUTE AND GEE IS SO HAPPY AND I BET HIS DAUGHTER IS TOO CAUSE HE SAID SHE WANTED ONE SO BAD AND JUST DAWWWWWW
It's pretty stressful but I suppose it's nice because this way we get two weeks to kinda just casually study, instead of trying to shove in studying along with schoolwork. My world history teacher is kind of like that-- he's got this weird expectation for everything but yet he won't tell you exactly what he wants and so then he docks off points and it's like ??? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME MAN?!
I'm sure you'll do amazing at Digital Animation. You morph those shapes and kick butt Ellie.
My school doesn't exempt finals for gpa, and damn now I'm wishing they did.
THANKS. I THINK I'LL BE OKAY BUT IT'S JUST THAT NERVOUS ANXIETY AS YOU KNOW THEY'RE COMING CLOSER AND YOU'RE JUST LOWKEY FREAKING OUT.
OH MY LORD THAT SOUNDS AMAZING ELLIE. I'M SO HAPPY THAT YOU GOT ACCEPTED. THAT SOUNDS LIKE SUCH AN INSANELY FUN AND INTERESTING EXPERIENCE.
i will gladly stow away on your plane. kels and i have plans to start a sheep company and to just ignore school for eternity so that'll be perfect. thank you. xD

  3. Guatemala. I'll see you there chum. I'm not even anywhere near finals yet but I'm fully willing to leave right now. I'm genuinely that petrified for them ( They're in two years for me).
What's you're favorite Troye song by the way? Mine is Ease, which is ironic considering I've just been talking about school and school is everything but easy. Depressing, stressful, mentally disturbing and wrong on so many levels, but not easy.

    1. Wonderful. We can all go together and raise animals. Who needs school, really?
I really like for him, and Bite, but truthfully I can listen to the whole album through and love every song.
