|| I Don't Know What I'm Doing ||

My computer decided to take a dump on me-- it's hard drive failing completely to the point where it failed all five tests ran by the store. I'll be without it for a week, maybe more. I could deal, probably, if all my schoolwork wasn't online. But it is, and now I have to use my mother's laptop. (Which makes me feel utterly terrible. I hate using other's devices when I know they need it just as much as I.)

Besides the computer issue, I've been thinking hard about blogging. I don't know what I want to do currently, nor do I feel like I really belong in the section of the community that I am currently in. Part of me wants to start fresh, and do something along the lines of a book/music review blog. The other part of me is screaming, because I'm so emotionally attached to Silhouette. But I truly just don't like where I am, and I feel so out of place-- shunned, almost, because I'm not like the rest of the bloggers that I know, because I don't have a niche, and because I just can't relate.

I don't know what to make of anything, but I just wanted to let you all know that, for now, I'm taking a break. I likely won't be back until my laptop is fixed, or I've decided what I'm going to do; if anything at all.

I hope you're all doing alright, and having a lovely day. Remember to smile for me, because you're utterly wonderful. Stay street, stay alive. |-/

  1. i'm sorry about your laptop, and you already know my thoughts on the blogging situation. just know i'll support you no matter what you do, and i hope things work out. :)

  2. Ahh I'm so sorry about your computer *hugs and tea*
I didn't have a niche for most of my blogging journey. Only recently, I've begun to focus more on reading and writing, because I find that's what gives me the most joy to blog about - although I do post about other things as well! I think if you want to do a music/book review blog, give it a go. Maybe have two blogs: this one for rambling/photography/misc. stuff and the other one for reviews. Just do whatever makes you happiest - because blogging is nothing if it doesn't bring you joy.
Also, if it counts for anything, I've always considered you to be one of the most, if not the most, relevant bloggers in the comm. :)
Hope this all works out <3 like Maddie, you can count on me to support you no matter what decision you make.

    1. *hugs back*
i'll be sure to, ultimately, do what makes me happiest. it's just figuring out what exactly that is that's making things hard.
haha thank you. there's many bloggers who are likely more relevant than i, but it means a lot that you think i'm quite something. :)
      thank you love. <3
      xx Adi

  3. I hope you get your laptop fixed soon!

Don't be afraid to start over if you feel like that's what you need to do. Sometimes it's better to get a fresh start when things change. Just know that Silhouette will always be a piece of blogging history to me whether you continue it or not. And if you do decide to start another blog, you can be certain that I'll be right there to watch it take off. :)

I hope you are able to come to a happy decision, and that all is well on your break. <3

    1. all you said means so much to me. thank you, j! <3
      xx Adi

  4. Don't start a new blog!! Just change what you post from now on if you don't like what you're doing right now. Just make it a 'whatever floats your boat' kind of blog. I'll keep reading.

  5. Ahh I feel ya with the computer problems. I think I've mentioned before that I'm also schooled online, so I know what that's like! You know, people are always saying, "If something goes wrong, just go to the library and use the public computers." But.. That involves possibly interacting with people. Or at least feeling like you're being watched the entire time lol. So, you know what, I use my mom's laptop as well when I need to. She understands completely, and I'm sure yours does as well. It ain't your fault anyhow. Tech happens, right? :)

Like M above said, if I were you, I wouldn't start a new blog. You need a change of pace after a while, but every time you change your address, you lose a good portion of your readership. So, maybe you'll want to just try and fight through this rough time. Take a break, but come back and experiment with your posts. Change it up until you find something that hits you right.

You've put a lot of time, effort, and love into your blogs. We all understand if you're done with the blogosphere for now, but I'd be so sad to see you leave! Especially if it's because you feel like you don't belong. I'm sure you're aware of all the different kinds of blogs out there - you've made an impact on several of them, including mine. Doesn't matter if you're not a "niche blog." Many aren't. Nothing wrong with that.

    Best wishes, Adi. <3

    1. ugh, they're the worst. i'm totally against interacting with others (i mean, that's what family is for, right?) and using a public computer is not high on the list of things i'd like to do. she totally understands and is so sweet about it, but i guess i'm just one of those people who doesn't like to ask for help/seem needy in any way.

i will probably just end up sticking with this little 'ol thing. i don't believe i'm done with the blogosphere just yet. there's too many things i want to post about, and too many people (including you) that i've come to love so much. i don't truly think i could just stop being a part of this all.

thank you for all you sweet words. i'll definitely be thinking of them over the next few weeks. <3

      xx Adi

  6. Hi Adaline!

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry about your laptop, I have having tech problems. #theworst Anyways... I'd also like to say that I know exactly how you feel. I have had this feeling sometimes over the past couple years, and I didn't know what it was until now... So, I guess I can say that I have felt that I haven't belonged here either. I don't really have a niche and I don't communicate with bloggers like I used to... but don't give up hope. Here is my advice to you: Do what makes YOU happy. If Silhouette doesn't fulfill that need for you, take a break, we will always be here if you want to come back. So, do whatever feels right to you.

I hope you have a lovely break and find your niche (and it's okay if you don't).

    xx Mackenzie

  7. I totally know how you feel. I have hit a huge "creativity block" lately and I have been having a hard time deciding what I am truly passionate about. Sometimes it's really hard to sort through all my interests and find the things that I truly love to do.

Hope that made some sort of sense... :)

    <3/ Audrey

(P.S. Good luck with the laptop situation :)

  8. I know what you mean about finding a niche. I had a lot of trouble finding mine because it wasn't 'traditional'. Like, instead of "photography blog" or "book blog" it was more like "memoirs and stories and debates". :') I hope that in someway helps you to realise that you don't have to go with a predefined niche, you can make your own. A review blog written by you would be really entertaining, I'd definitely follow!
