|| Greek Mythology Tag ||

(all pictures besides those stated otherwise belong to me)

the very very lovely ellie @ on the other side of reality tagged me for the greek mythology book tag a little while back, and i flailed wildly because greek mythology = percy jackson in my mind, and percy jackson is right behind harry potter for the biggest comfort series to me. i just love my little demigods so much.

thank you again ellie for the tag!

NOW ON TO THE QUESTIONS:

ZEUS (JUPITER), GOD OF THE SKY + THUNDER, KING OF GODS: FAVORITE BOOK (CHOOSE YOUR OWN CATEGORY!)

um how about favorite 2015 book cover??
sleeping giants was one of the most unique books i've read this year, and the cover is just my absolute favorite thing EVER.

HERA (JUNO), GODDESS OF MARRIAGE AND FAMILY: CUTEST BOOK COUPLE

(art by charliebowater)

I was going to try to think of something original, but my brain just keeps screaming FEYRE AND RHYSAND FEYRE AND RHYSAND FEYRE AND

(( dan and matt from the foxhole court are also really really adorable + so precious))

POSEIDON (NEPTUNE), GOD OF THE SEAS AND EARTHQUAKES: BOOK THAT DROWNED YOU IN FEELS

|| They never pried, but it took him weeks to realize they didn't have to. They didn't ask for secrets; they settled for the breadcrumb truths of day to day life. They knew he hated vegetables but loved fruit, that his favorite color was gray, and that he didn't like movies or loud music. They were things Neil understood only in terms of survival, but his teammates hoarded these insights like gold. They were piecing Neil together and building a real person around all of his lies. They found the parts of him no disguise could change. ||
please excuse me as i go bawl in the corner. this series is my everything and it utterly destroyed me. i've been in a two month long reading slump because of it.

ATHENA (MINERVA), GODDESS OF WISDOM, HANDICRAFT, AND STRATEGIC WARFARE: SERIES WITH THE BEST WORLDBUILDING

*casually flings the Six of Crows duology at you*
so i mean, everything about leigh's books are fantastic, but her world-building is truly phenomenal. her writing is so rich and vibrant, and yes, i know ketterdam is scary as hell, but i
would still live there, just because of how leigh describes it.
((and for kaz brekker. always for kaz brekker.))

APHRODITE (VENUS), GODDESS OF LOVE AND BEAUTY: FAVORITE BOOK COVER ON A 2016 RELEASE

i just want to give a very loud shriek for both the us and uk covers of nevernight. the gorgeousness is real, folks. i can't get over how beautiful and photogenic it is.

ARES (MARS), GOD OF WAR AND BLOODSHED: MOST VIOLENT BOOK YOU'VE EVER READ

i was originally going to say red rising by pierce brown, but then i remembered just how many deaths occurred in illuminae and yep, definitely going with this one.
((i still love it to bits, though))

honorable mentions: red rising, nevernight

HEPHAESTUS (VULCAN), GOD OF BLACKSMITHS AND FIRE: BIGGEST FICTIONAL CRUSH

this question is really cute because it assumes i can pick just one fictional crush. i'll try and keep the list as short as i can, though.

-rhysand (acomaf)
-noah shaw (mara dyer)
-kaz brekker (six of crows)
-manon blackbeak (throne of glass)
-mr. bradford (entwined)
-daemon black (lux series)
-kell (a darker shade of magic)

ARTEMIS (DIANA), GODDESS OF THE HUNT AND VIRGINITY: FAVORITE KICKASS HEROINE

(when you had a bookstagram picture that perfectly suits this question)

once again, i can't pick just one, but some of my faves are:

-isabel culpeper (wolves of mercy falls series)
-scarlet (the lunar chronicles)
-black widow
-nina + inej (six of crows)
-dan, renee, + allison (all for the game series)
-lila bard (shades of magic series)
-feyre, amren, mor, + nesta (acotar/acomaf)
-katy schwartz (lux series)

PHOEBUS APOLLO (APOLLO), GOD OF LIGHT AND HEALING: SEQUEL BOOK THAT REDEEMED ITS SERIES

y'all already know how much i love this book, so i'll refrain from babbling about it again.

HERMES (MERCURY), MESSENGER GOD OF THIEVES + COMMERCE: BOOK WITH THE BEST MESSAGE

my go-to answer for this is we are the ants ((if you haven't read it yet pls get off my blog and go find a copy okay you won't regret it)), but i thought the last time we say goodbye was a really great book that touched well on depression, suicide, and the impact suicide of a loved one can have on others. i loved the last scene to bits, for reasons i can't say because spoilers, but just know that it's wonderful how the main character progresses over the course of the book and comes to terms with things. it was such a quick, touching read. ^-^

HESTIA (VESTA), GODDESS OF THE HEARTH AND HOME: MOST RELATABLE BOOK

we are the ants and the five stages of andrew brawley are the books that make up my heart and soul. i relate to both so deeply, and each one resonated with me in different, but equally important ways.

DEMETER (CERES), GODDESS OF FERTILITY AND AGRICULTURE: FAVORITE BOOKISH SETTING

any and every book that involves a forest/ocean in some way is a favorite of mine.

DIONYSUS (BACCHUS), GOD OF WINE AND CELEBRATION: 2016 RELEASE YOU ARE MOST ANTICIPATING

Scythe
 (cover from goodreads)

Scythe by Neal Shusterman sounds absolutely amazing and wonderfully eerie, and I'm so so so excited for it to come out. the gist of it is that humanity has reached a point where no one dies anymore, so people are to be randomly picked off by those trained to be reapers, also known as scythes. it sounds so good, + all the arc reviews have been raving about it. i can't wait until november 22nd.

and there we go! that was the greek mythology tag! a very big thank you again to ellie. if you haven't already, you should seriously go pop on over and say hi. she's terrific.

i hope you're all having a lovely day! don't forget to smile for me, if you can. you're utterly brilliant. ❤︎

Let's chat! What 2016 release is your favorite? What book drowned you in the most feels? TELL ME ALL THE THINGS.

  1. THERE ARE SO MANY BOOKS HERE THAT I NEED TO READ. I am so desperate to read Illuminae, Six of Crows, Nevernight, The Foxhole Court... I am so slow! I need We Are the Ants (especially bc I loved Fangirl so much too, and you put them together!). Your cat is SO CUTE btw, and all of these photos are so pretty!

  3. This is the first time I have been on your blog AND I AM ALREADY MESMERIZED BY YOUR BOOK PHOTOGRAPHY. I must agree with most of these, the rest I haven't read yet (shame on me). The book that drowned me in the most feels was most certainly and definitely Crooked Kingdom (which I just finished and it destroyed me literally). I will never be the same after it.

Your book photography is so beautiful..HOWWW...<3 <3
You mentioned so many amazing books...I LOVE THE PICTURE OF FEYRE AND RHYS!
^^Yeah, I read ACOMAF when if first came out, and it took me so long to get over the massive cliffhanger at the end, and then I made the horrible mistake of re-reading it, got hit by all the feels again, and then started compulsively checking the release date for the sequel to ACOMAF which it turns out is coming out on May 2, several months away..*sobs*
Six of Crows, We Are the Ants, Crooked Kingdom, and Salt to the Sea, are all amazing books as well. :-)
