// Character Karaoke Tag //
Reason #6782 why I need to write it down every time I'm tagged because whoo boy is this long overdue.
(and sorry in advance for the second tag post in a row. finals are this month, and my brain didn't realize i hadn't scheduled something different before this. *sigh*)
A while ago, the very lovely Ellie @ The Other Side of Reality tagged me to do the Character Karaoke Tag. I'm so excited about this one, because let's be real, there's nothing better than a tag that features music in some way. Annnd, it gives me an excuse to talk about Bastard Boys, who y'all know are my fictional children that I'm just way too fond of.
Thanks for the tag, Ellie! <3
Thanks for the tag, Ellie! <3
What song best describes the mood for your novel?
The Courage Or the Fall by Civil Twilight is just so dark and ethereal sounding and I absolutely love the song and listen to it often while plotting/writing. It also has a very uncertain and questioning air to its lyrics, and I feel it fits the mood + characters of my story so well.
Pick a character and a song to describe them
Eat You Alive by The Oh Hellos sounds very upbeat, but the lyrics are quite dark, and I think that represents Elliott very well, as he tends to hide behind fake emotions. Elliott is very set on getting what he wants, and the lines:
He said to me, Child, I'm afraid for your soul
These things that you're after, they can't be controlled
This beast that you're after will eat you alive
And spit out your bones
-describe Elliott very well to me.
One of your characters is at a karaoke night when- gasp! They've been asked to get up and sing! What song do they choose and how do they perform it?
I'd like to think that after some coercing by others, Edmund would get up and sing something lowkey depressing, like Drugstore Perfume by Gerard Way. He'd probably be insanely nervous and singing pretty quietly, but I think he'd have a lot of fun by the end of it.
Go-to song when writing battle scenes?
Anything by Ruelle usually does the trick. Her music is just perfect for getting into that intense writing mood I need for battle scenes, and it helps tremendously when it comes to visualizing. Game of Survival is one of my favorites. ^-^
Thanks again so much for the tag, Ellie! I'm sorry I took such a horrendously long time to get it up, but it was so much fun, and I loved doing it. <3
LET'S CHAT! How are your WIPs coming along? Any exciting writing developments? What music do you listen to while writing? TELL ME ALL THE THINGS.
I'm so glad you enjoyed doing this! Ohhhhhh my goodness Edmund, WHAT A BEAN. Other than Edmund, Elliott, and Aidan, who are the other Bastard Boys?
ReplyDeleteI usually listen to Abney Park (steampunk music, which I have learned is a thing) and Lindsey Stirling while writing my current main focus WIP, an MG steampunk pirate novel called Karissa Goldlock's Guide to (Almost) Utterly Everything. I am DETERMINED to finish it by the end of May, but hoooo boyyy it's eating me alive. Part of my lack of progress over the past couple days is probably due to binging Peaky Blinders XD
