|| HAMILTON BOOK TAG ||

there's two things i love a lot, and that's hamilton, and books. so when i was scrolling through the twirling pages' archive, and saw that alexandra had done the hamilton book tag, i knew i had to do it. (good god did it take forever to put together though)
hope you enjoy-- and if you want to do this as well, consider yourself nominated! :)

the room where it happened// a book world you would like to put yourself into
I'd love to visit/live in Prythian, from the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy. Not really as it is in the books, because let's be real, I'd be dead in less than a day. But I'd love to visit when things were peaceful; see all the different courts and the fae. The Night Court + Summer Court sound especially gorgeous.

the schuyler sisters// an underrated female character
Ringer (The 5th Wave) is so underrated and under-appreciated, like it's not even funny. She figured out so many things before the rest of the crew did, and her intelligence/wit kept her and the others from killing innocent people. She worked out everything behind the attacks + invasion, and yet she gets like no credit or recognition aND IT BUGS ME OKAY.

stay alive// a character you wish was still alive
There's an officer from Illuminae whose death I was so distraught over and I wish he was still alive with all my heart. Actually there's a lot of people from that book that I wish were still alive, tbh. That whole book was painful. (and yet so good)

satisfied// your favorite book with multiple povs
I'm trying to break free of mentioning all the books that I usually do, so for this one, I'll go with Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell. I didn't really care for Fangirl, but I adored Carry On. It wasn't half as Harry Potter-ish as I thought it would be, and I loved the switching povs and all the characters (except for Simon's "girlfriend." What was the point of her and why was she so whiny?!? I can't even remember her name + I feel like that in itself sums up how I feel about her.).
Baz was undoubtedly my favorite. <3

the reynold's pamphlet// a book with a twist you didn't see coming
I'm still not sure I know entirely everything that went on in the Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin, but I love it to bits anyways. There were so many twists and surprises that I didn't see coming. The last book was especially mind-blowing and I'm still partially recovering all these months later. Gah, just talking about it makes me want to reread the series and pay even more attention to everything going on.

non-stop// a series you marathoned
*cheekily slips hamilton cd into picture*
I'm pretty sure I marathoned the Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater. I remember finishing the first one and telling my mom that I needed to go out and get the last two.
...And then I think I went out and got Sinner, too. #whoops
But it's truly such a great series, and it was my first Stiefvater set of books that I read, so it's doubly special to me. ^-^

burn// the most heartbreaking end to a relationship
Lexi and Trevor from The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley killed me. I can't even talk about them or I'll start getting weepy. I still haven't forgiven Shaun for what he did.

helpless// a relationship you were pulling for from the start
Wink + Midnight, from Wink Poppy Midnight. I wasn't necessarily shipping it-- I just wanted someone to finally be nice to Midnight and treat him with the love/respect he deserved. That poor boy is treated like crap from everybody around him and I just wanted him to be happy for once.

what comes next// a series you wish had more books
The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I would read a thousand more books as long as they involved Katy + Daemon in some way. Hell, I'd read it even if it was just 100 detailed pages about what they ate for breakfast. I love that series + cast of characters so much.

right hand man// favorite brotp (friendship)
As if there could be any answer to this besides Will + Jem from The Infernal Devices. Those two are such darlings, and between their humor and unconditional love for each other, I just can't get enough of them.

it's quiet uptown// a book or series that put you in a book hangover
(I'm imagining this song set to the epilogue scene and now I'm getting teary. Please help.)
Clockwork Princess (Cassandra Clare) destroyed me. I'm still not over it. I don't think I ever will be tbh??? That thing ripped my heart out and yet I loved it.
Honorable mentions: The Raven King // The Retribution of Mara Dyer// A Court of Mist and Fury

wait for it// most anticipated upcoming release

The Last Star// Empire of Storms// The Problem With Forever// A Conjuring of Light// ACOTAR #3// Basically all the things

  1. my mom recently played the hamilton soundtrack through the house while cooking and so i got my first taste of it--i don't know it remotely well enough to know song names but lafayette's features were probably my favorites. :} idk they just made me laugh. this is such a unique tag, i love seeing creative things like this float through the blogging world!

Poor Midnight....everything sucked for him for that ENTIRE book. GAhhhh. (I am actually glad he went to France though. I HOPE HE HAS A GOOD LIFE SOMEDAY. xD) And I love and adore The Infernal Devices. And omg Shiver?! SHIVER IS A PRECIOUS THING. <333 And Sinner is probably the best out of them...just because Cole is such a mess, always, and yet I can't love him enough. Eeeep.

  3. LITERALLY NONE OF YOUR AWESOME POSTS ARE SHOWING UP IN MY FEED AGH. I'll have to remedy this.
I've not listened to Hamilton, even though I'm 1000% sure I'd love it. Why, you ask? I DON'T NEED ANOTHER FANDOM TO GET SUCKED INTO. Also, I feel guilty sharing ANY historical musical love with Les Miz.
Also, I definitely agree with Cait - your photos (especially the Illuminae one!) are GORGEOUS.
As always, your book taste appears impeccable. I'll definitely have to check some of these titles out!

  4. RINGER. YESSS. I absolutely adore her. Not only is she a fighter, but she's smart too. She kind of reminds me of Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson series actually. It's so sad how underrated she is because she is such an amazing character. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous post & choices! <3

    1. AHH SAME SAME SAME. Ah, I didn't even think of her relating to Annabeth until you mentioned it! She really is quite like her, + she deserves so much more credit.
